On Our Way

We were up at 3:20 to catch our 7 am flight to Seattle. Our ride was to pick us up at 4. We called at 3:55 and woke him up. A bit of a late start but no problem. There was no traffic on the way to the airport so we were there in record time. Two hour flight to Seattle then a 2 hour layover then on to Tokyo. We had the seats that lay down fully so even though we flew during the day, we were able to nap after being up so early. It was 10 hours and 45 minutes, fighting a 140+ mph headwind. But it was a fairly calm flight. I watched 3 movies.

Narita airport is very large but runs smoothly. We went thru customs and picked up our luggage within half an hour. The bus ticket counter was right outside baggage claim. We purchased our tickets to the Ambassador Hotel at Tokyo Disneyland then had to wait an hour for our bus. Probably a good thing as Mel realized he had left his jacket on the plane. We found a phone to Delta Baggage and told them his problem. The gal at Delta went to the plane then brought the jacket to him near where we were to catch the bus. Great service.

By the time we got to the hotel it was after 6 pm local time but 2 am to us. We walked around the hotel then went to Ikspari, the large shopping mall next door. We needed to stay awake until at least 9 to acclimate to the correct time zone. Lights out by 9:30 but at 1 am I I was wide awake. I did sleep a bit after that but not much. Hope we both sleep better tonight!

Less Than 24 Hours....

We leave for the airport at 4am tomorrow. That is WAY to early. Hope I will be able to sleep a bit on the plane. We fly to Seattle to catch our flight to Tokyo. In 72 hours we will be in Tokyo Disneyland! Good news for us, we were offered a good deal on an upgrade so we will be in our usual verandah suite cabin. Didn't have to pack so lightly after all. Just as well, more room to shop.

In the last post of my 2013 Asia Pacific blog I said we had signed up for Voyage of the Vikings in 2014. Well Sawyer Alan Johnson messed that up. He came into the world during the time we would have been gone. Wouldn't have missed that for anything. We may sign up for that cruise for 2016.

Koda is again the sadest to see us leave. He is glued to me night and day. He even tries to sleep on top of me, not good for a good night's sleep. He weighs 17 lbs. When he is sitting on your chest you really feel it. Hopefully he will be happy with our house sitter Rachel. They did fine the last couple of times but that was only for weekends. He has been spending a lot of time in my open suitcase. I have a feeling I will be carrying Koda fur with me.

Our bags are pretty much packed. We just have a few small items that will go in at the last minute in the morning. I have been packing for a month so hopefully have not forgotten anything. Now it is time to swim with Piper. We are going to miss doing that together.

Before the Cruise

L

We are off on the second half of this year's world cruise in less than 2 weeks! We will be on the ship for 57 days, gone a total of 70 days. As always, packing is difficult. In the past we have had unlimited free luggage. This time we have to fly to Singapore, so only 2 suitcases. We are also staying in a smaller cabin for the first time so not as much room to store things. Wonder if that will stop us from shopping? We don't have free luggage but are staying in FL for a few days at the end of our voyage so can easily ship.

The Delta flight has a stop in Tokyo so we had to stay a few nights. We will be in Tokyo Disneyland for 3 days, hope it's not too cold. Should be fun. Mel has never been. We will meet up with my friends one day in the park. I last saw them when I was there with my sister 10 years ago.

Just wanted to get this blog up and running. Guess I'd better go continue packing.
