We received an email saying our flight out was delayed 2 hours. If we caught a later airport limousine (bus) it would have been a bit tight so we stuck with the original reservation at 2:30. That still gave us time to go back to the parks for last minute shopping as well as picture taking in DisneySea. Hard to get good pictures in the pouring rain. We took the monorail from TDL to DisneySea. After the storm and wind, mother sky was clear. We had a great view of Mt Fuji which is not very common. We were back at the hotel waiting for the bus by 1.
The bus stopped at every Disney hotel after picking us up. At the Mira Costa there was a crowd of cast members as well as several chefs seeing off 2 guests. I commented to them that they didn't give us a send off like that at our hotel! Turns out they were both guest chefs, there for a week. He is in charge of food development for Disney Parks worldwide, she does the food for 3 of the parks at WDW. Big jobs. They were very friendly and invited us to call them at the end of our voyage. We will be at WDW for 3 days. That should be nice.
There were few people at the airport that early so we checked in quickly and headed for the Delta Crown room. Mel stayed with our things while I went back down to check out the duty free stores. They were lined up across from all the gates. My pedometer said I walked over 2 miles just looking at them all! I discovered that our flight was delayed, waiting for late flights from the USA. The Detroit flight was delayed due to ice, Seattle due to an ill passenger. Delta delayed 5 flights going out of Singapore to wait for them. That was fortunate for the Delta passengers. A friend who flew in on American missed her connection and had to stay in a hotel overnight in Tokyo.
The flight was 7 hours which surprised me when I'd first heard that. Asia is BIG! The fasten seatbelt sign was on most of the way, it was a bumpy flight. We were able to sleep a bit, maybe 2 hours. We arrived in Singapore after 2 am, 3 am in Japan. Waiting for our luggage I discovered that my Fitbit was gone. I asked a Delta rep to check the plane, nothing. Very sad as I like to see how far we walk in various ports. She took my email address to contact me after they had done a security check, no pedometer.
We had a lot of luggage. We left home with 4 suitcases, 2 flight bags and I also had a tote. We arrived in Singapore with 6 carry on items + the flight bags and I had had to expand both of my suitcases. We did some shopping at TDL! The taxi driver did not think everything would fit. We said some of it had to go in the back seat. He said it would ruin his seats then had Mel put most of the luggage in the car. The driver complained about his car being heavy and when we got to the hotel he was wiping off the back seats like we had done damage. Welcome to Singapore!
