Tokyo DisneySea

Another early morning. We were awake before 5. I will be very happy when we get over this jet lag. There was no snack shop in the hotel to just get a cup of coffee so we walked to Ikspari where there was a Starbucks. They weren't even open yet! Fortunately they opened at 8. It was 7:50. We walked back to the hotel and caught the bus to DisneySea.

Walking into DisneySea is walking into a whole new world. It is very dramatic with the volcano and fortress across the Mediterranean Harbor. We went immediately to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea to get a fast pass. After being unsuccessful in getting any yesterday, we were not taking any chances. The wait was 5 minutes so we got on. It is a bit like the submarine ride in Disneyland but the water is between layers of glass on the ride vehicle rather than a lagoon. Each vehicle holds 6. When we got off we went to ride on Journey to the Center of the Earth but it was closed. Disappointing as I had not been able to ride it when I was there 10 years ago either. We headed out of Mysterious Island, past Triton's Kingdom, to the Arabian Coast. There was no wait for the Magic Lamp Theater so we went in. Cute show. The two level Caravan Carousel was right next door so we went on that with no wait. I rode an elephant. Genie was right next to me but a kid grabbed him before Mel could. We headed back to Mysterious Island for a turkey leg. On the way we went into Triton's Kingdom. With the weather what it is in Japan, it was very smart to put all the children's rides indoors. The Mermaid Lagoon Theater was also closed. Sad because I remember it being a vey good show.

If I continue to write about every moment in the park I will never get thru this day and caught up! Suffice it to say, we went on a lot of rides, saw several shows and had a great time in general. It did start to rain at about 2:00. We were enjoying a buffet lunch at that time. It continued to pour the rest of the afternoon and evening. By the time we got back to our room at 8, I was soaked and cold. It was a great day in spite of the weather. The last thing we did was to watch the Broadway show. It was called Big Band Beat and was very entertaining with a 10 piece band and about 24 dancers and singers. And of course Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Marie made appearances.

I had noticed in Disneyland that they had different flavored popcorn. Some of the flavors included strawberry, curry, honey, black pepper and soy sauce & butter! The flavors and locations to find them are listed in the park guides. Many people were wearing various popcorn buckets and I discovered why. You can get refills in Disney buckets. I did finally decide to try some. I bought the milk tea flavor, it was delicious.

Another discovery was just how popular Duffy is in Japan. There were 3 stores dedicated just to he and his friend Gelatini the cat. There was also a restaurant with a Duffy show. On Sunday there were long lines for Friends of Duffy, not sure what that was.

I was hoping that all our clothing would be dry to pack in the morning as we tried to get a good night's sleep with lights out at 10.
